કાગડો મરી ગયો

સડકની વચ્ચોવચ્ચ સાવ કાગડો મરી ગયો
ખૂલેખૂલો બન્યો બનાવ કાગડો મરી ગયો

નજરને એની કાળી કાળી ઠેસ વાગતી રહે
જમાવી એ રીતે પડાવ કાગડો મરી ગયો

આ કાગડો મર્યો કે એનું કાગડાપણું મર્યું?
તું એ સિદ્ધ કરી બતાવ, કાગડો મરી ગયો

શું કાગડાના વેશમાંથી કાગડો ઊડી ગયો?
ગમે તે અર્થ ઘટાવ, કાગડો મરી ગયો

શું કામ જઇને બેસતો એ વીજળીના તાર પર?
નડ્યો છે જોખમી સ્વભાવ, કાગડો મરી ગયો

અવાજ આપી કોણે એના શબ્દ છીનવ્યા હતા?
કરી કરીને – કાંવ…કાંવ કાગડો મરી ગયો

સદાય મૃતદેહ ચૂથી કોને એમાં શોધતો?
લઇ બધા રહસ્યભાવ કાગડો મરી ગયો

લ્યો કાગડો હોવાનો એનો કાર્યક્રમ પૂરો થયો
હવે આ રાષ્ટ્રગીત ગાવ : ‘કાગડો મરી ગયો…’

રમેશ, આમ કાગડાની જેમ તું કરાંજ મા….
You sotp…stop…stop…now કાગડો મરી ગયો..

The Crow Died 

Plumb in the middle of the road the crow expired.
Such an outrageous incident; yes, the crow died.

Lodged itself in such a way that our sight would
keep stumbling on its black body; the crow died.

Did this crow depart – or its crowness?
Prove what you can; the crow died.

Did the crow wing away from its crow guise?
Conjecture what you will; the crow died.

Why did it perch on the electric cable?
Its recklessness cost it dear; the crow died.

Who seized its words, giving voice in return?
Cawed and cawed all the time; the crow died.

What  was it seeking, messing up carcasses?
Carried all the suspense away with it; the crow died.

Well, its program of being a crow is over.
Now sing this national anthem: ‘The crow died’…

Ramesh, don’t you caw noisily like the crow….
You stop…stop…stop…now; the crow died!
